CNGMUN XLII Day 1- Bilderberg Summit: China is doing what with AI?

Things heat up between delegations as the ethics of AI are addressed and discussed in the committee. It is no secret that the influence of artificial intelligence has increased exponentially over the past decade, and with the popularization of AI tools in everything from art to international affairs, it was made clear to the members of the Bilderberg Summit that this growing power needed to be analyzed. While some members, such as US ex president Donald Trump, directly saw AI as a threat, others saw the technology as a tool that could facilitate billions of lives and countless professions.

Thus, the committee was left speechless by the revelations of Xi Jin Ping, who publicly stated that his government used AI in a nationwide surveillance system. This completely turned heads in the committee and brought into account the issue of civilian privacy and the invasion of it. Many delegates, such as King Charles III and Ursula von der Leyen agreed on a worldwide regulation of AI being necessary in order to ensure that civil liberties and rights are not being violated, as is the current case in China.
