The Historical Security Council committee seeks to find new solutions to historical issues the Security Council has discussed. Today the committee set itself in 1962 and was prepared to tackle the Cuban Missile Crisis. The debate began with all of the delegates giving their opening speeches, as such each delegate present presented their position regarding the matter clearly. The debate had a swift start as various delegations pointed out the many missiles the United States had stationed in European countries such as Italy and Turkey. This soon escalated further as the delegate of Cuba presented an ultimatum to the committee asking for the removal of the missiles stationed in Italy or else the cuban republic would not be willing to participate in any form of diplomatic process with this nation.

Right before the end of the 1st session the committee was presented with a crisis: A new government was established in Haiti after a successful revolution aided by the Soviet Union and Cuba increasing the communist influence in the country. In response the delegations of Italy and Turkey presented an ultimatum: the missiles held in Cuba and the USSR were to be removed or the missiles in the country who presented this ultimatum would arm their missiles against the USSR. The result of this ultimatum led to the arming of the USSR’s missiles which are on standby ready to attack many western cities such as London and West Berlin. The Delegation of Spain in response to all the missile threats threatened to block all Soviet Ships that go through their waters if the USSR launches any attack.
