Security Council (February 17) - Wonjune (Steve) Hur

The main focus of the debate held February 17 was about the killing of Soleimani and tensions between Iran and the United States. Many ideas have come up during the committees, and interesting to be at least, such as: the rising of the Irani nationalism, electoral rights, and the violation of human rights. As the debate went on, there were many interesting points of view such as the ones of the delegates of U.S and France; but the most thrilling part was when a major crisis was presented. News broke out that 8 american soldiers were killed/kidnapped by Iranian soldiers and that started to heat up the debate. As the spirited delegates went on to voice their opinions, there was an intervention by the president of Iraq to voice his opinion about why he intends to keep the U.S soldiers kidnapped or killed.
